Biography:

A fourth generation native Californian, Kate Jackson has painted almost exclusively in watercolor for over 30 years and trained primarily in the Los Angeles and Santa Barbara areas (a.k.a. Kate Trelatsky). She has a loose, bold, expressive style of painting, is known for her vivid color, and often incorporates collage items into her work. Her paintings, known as Watercolor Expressions, are colorful abstract images of “landscapes of the mind.” Kate has taught watercolor to adults and children through the Merced Multicultural Arts Center, the Merced Community College and the Tri-College campuses. She has juried shows for ACA Fresno and UC Merced. She is an International Workshop instructor and an award winner in numerous California exhibits. Kate has shown in the prestigious shows Yosemite Renaissance, the CCAA Annual Spring Show, the Madera Arts in Agriculture show, the California State Fair and has had several one woman shows throughout the state. She is a former long-standing member artist of the Arbor Gallery, Merced and
was a charter member of the Los Padres Watercolor Society. Kate is currently a member artist of Madera’s Circle Gallery and is an active member of CHAA.

Beginning in late 2007, Jackson’s artwork began moving in a new direction including mixed media/collage on small boards and large canvas and figurative work on Yupo synthetic paper. Her work with actual grape leaves and a many step process led her into a Grape series which continues past 25 works of art. Another series on Yupo paper includes several award winners on irrigation, crops, redwood and oak trees and many specifically California concept pieces. Yupo has quickly become her favorite surface on which to work. Her recent works incorporate alcohol inks which maintain vivid transparent color.

Kate’s paintings are found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.
